To help highly skilled immigrants find work and integrate into the job market faster, the government of Canada announced a $10 million under the Foreign Credential Recognition (FCR) Program on March 7, 2019, to help highly trained skilled immigrants to Canada get their credentials recognized, obtain Canadian work experience and find jobs.
In the Employment and Labour Minister’s press release, “Helping immigrants obtain help to have their foreign credentials recognized will allow them to integrate into the Canadian labour force faster, which is essential to growing our economy and strengthening the middle class. By this Call for Concepts, we are giving more immigrants a fair chance at success in Canada.”
According to Canada, a highly skilled newcomer is someone who holds an internationally obtained post-secondary degree or certification, diploma that is recognized in Canada. There are plenty of highly skilled workers and apprentices who would like to work in Canada.
Fortunately, Canada needs them too. The Express Entry gives newcomers an opportunity to obtain permanent residence in Canada. With the government’s new commitment, they will have a chance to get their skills recognized.
According to the Canadian government, the country hopes to boost its intake of immigrants by 2021. At the moment, they receive 350, 000 new immigrants each year. The Immigration Minister, Ahmed Hussen, stated that the government has started a three-year plan to increase immigration.
Most of the immigrants will help Canada address their problem of labour shortfalls. Canada targets immigrants with specific skills that are considered to be beneficial to the Canadian economy.
